Properties:
White acicular crystal. Melting Point 240-241 °C. Soluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons, soluble in alcohols and ethers, slightly soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, insoluble in water. The molecule contains two hydroxyl groups and a strong electron-absorbing sulfone group, which makes it more acidic than other phenols.
Application:
*1). Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl) Sulfone is used in curing fast-drying epoxy glues and as a corrosion inhibitor.
* 2). Used as a reactant in polymer reactions.
* 3). Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl) Sulfone is well used in a variety of paper products worldwide, like tickets, mailing envelopes, airplane boarding passes, and airplane luggage tags.
* 4). It is used in thermal paper.
