Properties:
Zinc 2-mercaptobenzothiazole is light yellow powder with light bitter taste. Specific density is 1.65--1.72. Hardly soluble in acetone, benzene, ethanol, and carbon tetrachloride. Insoluble in water, gasoline. Decomposed in strong acid and alkali.
Application:
Zinc 2-mercaptobenzothiazole is used for NR, IR, SBR, NBR, HR and EPDM and also latex. As an intermediate between MBT and MBTS. Also as a secondary accelerator in combination with ZDMC and ZDEC. ZMBT is with lower scorch and better processing safety, so suitable for mold curing. Easily disperses in rubber, yields non-staining and non-discoloring products, for example latex products, form rubber, latex coating gloves etc.
